Emilio Rojas – The Natural

November 18, 2009

Dj Green Lantern presents Emilio Rojas with his latest mixtape titled “The Natural.” Emilio has shown tremendous growth since his last mixtape with Dj Noodles. I think he may even be one of the most improved artists in my opinion for 2009. “The Natural” mixtape comes off like a street album and features some heavyweight production from beat makers like 6th Sense, M-Phazes, Green Lantern, Boi-1da, Nottz, Sean C & LV and more. When I first heard Emilio’s music last year I didn’t think that he would be an artist capable of holding down a full album, but after hearing this tape my opinions definitely changed. Chace Infinite – I Would Have Killed This

October 27, 2009

Cashmere Agency & Prohibit sponsored this mixtape from Chace Infinite, which is pretty straight fire. Thanks to The Over Feed where I spotted it. Cashmere Agency described the tape well. Here’s what they said:

Most Self Scientific fans know that a number of the songs that DJ Khalil does with other artists were originally songs or ideas intended for Self Scientific. Cashmere Agency and Prohibit NYC Present I Would Have Killed This is a full mixtape by Self Scientific’s frontman Chace Infinite and finds him going in over some of the more well-known beats that his partner, DJ Khalil, produced for other artists. The first joint leaked was over the popular “Kinda Like A Big Deal” track that featured The Clipse and Kanye West. Next, Chace attacked “I Still Kill,” the beat Khalil produced for 50 Cent and Akon. In classic Self Scientific fashion, Chace changes the subject matter to instead discuss life and his attempts to understand his own journey. Be sure to download the entire mixtape to hear the Chace Infinite put his own spin on 10 Khalil beats that were snatched up by other artists. The mixtape also contains a bonus of three original Self Scientific songs. – Cashmere Agency

Kevin Casey Music – Live From New York (1994-2001)

October 8, 2009

This is one of the best mixtapes to be put out so far this year. New York hip hop from 1994-2001 were the best years ever in hip hop. All of these songs evoke different emotions in me when I listen to them again after a few years. This era of hip hop is what I grew up on and will never forget. Kevin Casey did an excellent job selecting the tracks from these yesteryear’s that truly capture the sound of New York during that time. You really need to download this tape right now. I have lost a lot of these songs over the years in changing computers, iPods, hard drives, etc… so, having all these again and on one mix is a blessing. Thank you Kevin. Beatnick & K-Salaam – Never Can Say Goodbye

September 24, 2009

Beatnick & K-Salaam return after their highly successful mixtape “Where The Streets Have No Name” with a remix album showcasing some of the greatest legends in music. Remixes of Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye tracks. Now, they released 2 versions of this tape, the regular remix album with the vocals and then the instrumental version. The instrumental version is what really grabbed my attention. Beatnick & K-Salaam are extremely talented producers and the instrumentals highlight that to a t. So if I was you, I would be downloading the instrumental version without a doubt and just vibing out to it or even getting creative with it. But, take a listen to both versions and decide for yourself. You can even download both if you please. The instrumental version does cost $6, but it’s well worth it. You can stream it all day for free though. A dope album for sure. Always a free mixtape download over here. Home of the free hip hop mixtape downloads. Tracklist and downloads below. Get Right…

R.I.P. DJ AM: A Collection Of Mixes

September 4, 2009

This post is in honor of DJ AM. One of the greatest club/mix dj’s of our time. DJ AM was pioneer and his ability to control a crowd was one of one. From Dj’ing Hollywood nightclubs, to giving away amazing free mixes on the internet, to touring worldwide, Dj AM was without a doubt a great artist. He set the trend with the “eclectic” mix. AM’s style of blending hip hop, pop, rock, 80’s, funk, soul, breaks and more all in one set was groundbreaking and therefore imitated by dj’s all over the world. Dj AM will definitely be missed and hopefully his name will remain a legacy in the music industry. This post serves as an honor to his music and features a collection of 16 of his mixes. Most of the mixes are well over an hour and capture AM’s style of djing. Personally, I like to throw on an AM mix during a house party, as it always gets people up and animated. But, putting it on in the car and just cruising around works just as well. The download is served as one large 1.25 GB file or as separate downloads. Dj AM, R.I.P.

July 30, 2009

Rik Cordero, the most sought after music video director right now and The Kickdrums, one of the most sought after production teams, present the “Inside A Change” Soundtrack. The soundtrack is to the “Inside A Change” feature film from Rik Cordero and his Three/21 Media company, which is premiering tonight at the HBO Latino festival in NYC. The soundtrack features brand new music by Consequence, Joell Ortiz, Skillz, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Wale, Saigon, Royce Da 5′9″, The Kickdrums, J.A.M.E.S. Watts, Statik Selektah, Illmind, A.P., Nami Unreal and more. The soundtrack also contains samples from the film as well as professionally scored segments. I think it’s a great move that Rik decided to release this soundtrack for free, which will undoubtedly be excellent promotion for the film. This is truly a great album that should be downloaded. Dj Haylow – GoldenEra Remixes

July 22, 2009

This mixtape is dope! Seriously, this is my new favorite tape. Everyone loves a nice 90’s era hip hop mix, but there aren’t many 90’s era hip hop mixes dedicated strictly to the best remixes of that time. I was actually thinking last week that all those dope remixes from back in the day are missing from my digital library and probably from a lot of your libraries as well. So in my opinion this is a must download for all. Remixes from Dj Premier, Buckwild, Q-Tip, Eric Sermon, Jay Dee and more. Great stuff right here. Also, this is the first mix for Dj Haylow on Get Right Music.  Always a free mixtape download over here. Home of the free hip hop mixtape downloads. Tracklist and downloads below. Get Right…

Dj Teddy King & Mondee – The Ghostface Show

June 26, 2009

Dj Teddy King and Mondee recorded this Ghostface mix on November 20th last year on Boundless Radio in NYC. The mix was so dope that they decided to release it as a mixtape for the masses to download. You may remember Teddy King from his popular Nas mix, featuring ultra rare Nas tracks. This mixtape features 45 minutes of Teddy King spinning classic Ghostface material and then another hour or so of Mondee spinning a dope classic hip hop mix. Overall the mix is about 2 hours long and worth it. Definitely a must download in my opinion. Also, be sure to check out Boundless NY for dope clothing and more dope mixes. Dustin Prestige – Houston Presto Vol.1

June 8, 2009

Props to Rap Radar for this one. I never heard of Dustin until today, but I gave the a true listen today. Normally, I’m not a fan huge fan of the south too too much. Nothing against the south, it’s just not really my style. You can probably tell by the mixtapes that get posted on here. But, Dustin has a new and very unique and fresh sound. I can’t really describe it, but the music sounds simple and very very listenable. I put it on earlier and just let it play. Typically, I would have skipped through a few tracks, but I haven’t done that on this tape. A truly good tape or album, in my opinion, is when you put it on and then you suddenly find yourself almost done with it and you didn’t really notice that you listened to that much of it. That’s what this mixtape did for me. Check out the tape from Dustin Prestige. If any Houston people on the site have some more info on him, please feel free to leave it in the comments. Thanks. Travis Barker & Dj AM – Fix Your Face Vol.2 (Coachella ‘09)

June 1, 2009

The first mixtape that these two put together (before the plane crash), was a huge success on Get Right Music. It was one of the most downloaded mixtapes to date. To follow up on that tape, the duo release Volume 2 of the “Fix Your Face” mixtapes. This one is also dubbed “Live From Coachella ‘09.” The mixtape is an ill mix of hip hop, pop, rock and dance. Dj AM plays the records and Barker plays the drums over the beats. The blend works perfectly. They are giving the mixtape away for free in exchange for one tweet about the tape. A pretty cool idea to help promote the project using Twitter. You can check that site out right here. This is the perfect mixtape to just throw on during a party and push play and let it ride. Drake is the artist that everyone is talking about right now, so naturally people are going to try and ride the buzz and drop mixtapes featuring him. Joell Ortiz – Covers The Classics

May 12, 2009

Many say that Joell Ortiz is the best rapper in the group Slaughterhouse. I’ll leave that up for comments debate. Joell Ortiz is on his grind though, and in my opinion, one of the most improved artists out right now. He continues to improve, as it shows with this tape here. The mixtape is hosted by Dj Green Lantern and features Ortiz going in over some classic instrumentals such as “Rapper’s Delight,” “Mass Appeal,” “4,3,2,1,” “Drop A Gem On Em,” and much much more. A great creative idea for a mixtape, and Joell kills these beats. Check it out. Always a free mixtape download over here. Home of the free hip hop mixtape downloads. Dj Fricktion & The Lovesoul Dj’s – “The Golden Chamber”

March 30, 2009

Very rarely do I come across a mixtape that I extremely support and will promote unconditionally. This is one of them. Props to YN for putting me on. The mixtape is put together by Dj Fricktion and The Lovesoul Dj’s, coming out of England. The tape is also hosted by Wu-Tang, all of them, yes all of them. Pretty much in a short summary, the tape features classic Wu-Tang tracks as well as other classic music from that “Golden Era” of hip hop. Basically, everything I used to listen to as a freshman in high school (does that date me?..). That’s probably why I like the tape so much. But, this is when hip hop was hip hop and it let’s me reminisce a little bit. Just check the tracklisting and you’ll see what I mean. The tape also features exclusive interviews from Wu-Tang members.
