Who Is Joey Badass And Why Should You Download His Free Mixtape ‘1999’
Who is this new rapper Joey Badass and why should you care enough to give his free mixtape a listen? I sort of shot myself in the foot recently due to my last New Year's Eve resolution to no longer type symbols for rappers' names. A$AP Rocky was meant to be the last. Partially do to this personal logic, I originally had a slow start to listen to Joey Bada$$' mixtape. Only by a few days, but in Internet warp speed that’s like last year. After taking suggestion from TheOverFeed.com editors, I gave "1999" a complete listen. The project is sort of an ode to the 1990's scene of hip hop music influenced by great rappers like Nas, Notorious B.I.G. and Jay-Z. In an ironic twist, Flatbush, Brooklyn’s Joey Bada$$ is only 17 years old, but still heavily influenced by that era of music. 1999 is a complete mixtape that creatively comes correct. Not only does Joey Bada$$’ music pay respect to the New York greats, it also reinforces New York's up and coming creative talent in the hip hop field. Little known Bada$$ fact, Joey was featured on Mac Miller’s recent mixtape, Macadellic. Thank Joey Bada$$ for the free mixtape. What’s the over under on him blowing up and not completing high school next year? Stream and download the mixtape below.
