R.I.P. DJ AM: A Collection Of Mixes

This post is in honor of DJ AM. One of the greatest club/mix dj’s of our time. DJ AM was pioneer and his ability to control a crowd was one of one. From Dj’ing Hollywood nightclubs, to giving away amazing free mixes on the internet, to touring worldwide, Dj AM was without a doubt a great artist. He set the trend with the “eclectic” mix. AM’s style of blending hip hop, pop, rock, 80’s, funk, soul, breaks and more all in one set was groundbreaking and therefore imitated by dj’s all over the world. Dj AM will definitely be missed and hopefully his name will remain a legacy in the music industry. This post serves as an honor to his music and features a collection of 16 of his mixes. Most of the mixes are well over an hour and capture AM’s style of djing. Personally, I like to throw on an AM mix during a house party, as it always gets people up and animated. But, putting it on in the car and just cruising around works just as well. The download is served as one large 1.25 GB file or as separate downloads. Dj AM, R.I.P.

    [...] DJ AM was not only one of the best and most talented DJs to walk the earth but, he was also a huge inspiration to everybody. Before he passed away, he was working on a project with drummer Travis Barker. It was called TRV$-DJAM. AM was on the turntables while Barker was on the drum set. They made a total of two albums and played at some of the biggest music festivals. Some of these events were Coachella, Weenie Roast, MTV VMA’s, many sets at The Roxy on Sunset, and were the Super Bowl intro commercial in 2008. When DJ AM passed, various artists started to follow up in this movement of using drums and a DJ set to perform. Artists such as Deadmau5 and Tommy Lee started to follow in this movement also. This past March at the ULTRA music festival in Miami, these two jammed away and made a huge deal at main stage. Most recently, Travis Barker has started working with DJ A-Track. They have done sets at The Roxy on Sunset, many clubs in Las Vegas, and their biggest is going to be at Electric Daisy Carnival in 9 days. We will be covering this set live for all of you to see just incase you didn’t get a chance to see it at EDC 2010 DJ AM is one of those DJs that you listen to in awe. He is someone you can listen to for hours and still be impressed by the unlimited surprises. DJ AM was actually on the top of my list of people to see and sadly I didn’t get to. He will forever be an inspiration to other DJs and if you haven’t yet, I recommend you take time to listen to his remixes here. [...]
