Rik Cordero & The Kickdrums – Inside A Change Soundtrack

July 30, 2009

Rik Cordero, the most sought after music video director right now and The Kickdrums, one of the most sought after production teams, present the “Inside A Change” Soundtrack. The soundtrack is to the “Inside A Change” feature film from Rik Cordero and his Three/21 Media company, which is premiering tonight at the HBO Latino festival in NYC. The soundtrack features brand new music by Consequence, Joell Ortiz, Skillz, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Wale, Saigon, Royce Da 5′9″, The Kickdrums, J.A.M.E.S. Watts, Statik Selektah, Illmind, A.P., Nami Unreal and more. The soundtrack also contains samples from the film as well as professionally scored segments. I think it’s a great move that Rik decided to release this soundtrack for free, which will undoubtedly be excellent promotion for the film. This is truly a great album that should be downloaded. All of the artists on this soundtrack are dope and for free, this is something that doesn’t come around that often. Check it out. And check out the feature film when you get the chance. Mishka & Major Lazer – Keep Watch Vol.X

July 28, 2009

I just recently got put on to Major Lazer and was a fan right away. Major Lazer is a fictional character created by producers Diplo and Switch. I’ll post the official description of Lazer below. It’s too much to describe. Anyway, clothing company Mishka just put out a Major Lazer shirt and in promotion for it also dropped this tape featuring one long MP3 of electro-reggae-dancehall, if that makes sense. The mix is dope. Nice to throw on at a summer BBQ or pool party. At least that’s where I would rock it. Check it out. Also, check out Major Lazer’s new album “Guns Don’t Kill People, Lazers Do.” Below is the official description/back story of Major Lazer. Always a free mixtape download over here. Throwback: G-Unit – No Mercy, No Fear (2002)

July 26, 2009

Here’s a little throwback G-Unit tape to enjoy while there’s a slowdown in new mixtapes. Most people remember this tape and place it in the “when G-Unit was G-Unit” category. Featuring remixes and songs from 50, Banks and Yayo. A good tape to have in the collection and most people have probably misplaced or lost it during the past 7 years since it was released. Jay-Z ft. Kanye West & Rihanna: “Run This Town”

July 24, 2009

I’m posting this track because I know people want to hear it and there’s a lot of hype around it being Jay-Z’s first official single.  Honestly though, in my personal opinion, I don’t think this is a hit record. It’s a good track and all, but my first impressions are not hit. Let me know how you all feel, but I’m a little tired of that Rihanna melody and  I think the beat is just ehhh. Get Right…

Dj Haylow – GoldenEra Remixes

July 22, 2009

This mixtape is dope! Seriously, this is my new favorite tape. Everyone loves a nice 90’s era hip hop mix, but there aren’t many 90’s era hip hop mixes dedicated strictly to the best remixes of that time. I was actually thinking last week that all those dope remixes from back in the day are missing from my digital library and probably from a lot of your libraries as well. So in my opinion this is a must download for all. Remixes from Dj Premier, Buckwild, Q-Tip, Eric Sermon, Jay Dee and more. Great stuff right here. Also, this is the first mix for Dj Haylow on Get Right Music.  Always a free mixtape download over here. Home of the free hip hop mixtape downloads. Tracklist and downloads below. Get Right…

Jet Audio – Stand Alone Complex

July 21, 2009

Jet Audio just shot me over this mixtape and luckily he did, because it may have slipped through the Get Right Music cracks if he didn’t. The mixtape is dope. The whole thing is produced by Jet Audio and features artists such as Mickey Factz, Naledge, Emilio Rojas, Che Grand, The Kid Daytona and more. Definitely captures the sound of the “new” New York. The production is on point as well. All round a good tape that I enjoyed, so therefore, Jet Audio gets the feature on GRM. Check it out. Always a free mixtape download over here. Hevehitta & Dj Unexpected – Journey To The West

July 20, 2009

My favorite mixtape team is back with another dope mix for us. Hevehitta and Dj Unexpected have been consistently dropping great mixtapes with very unique and creative concepts and themes behind them. Not your average mixtape team. On this new one the theme is the West Coast and the tape features new west artists and classic west coast artists. The Diggers Union all day…

Featuring artists such as Nipsey Hussle, Jay Rock, Tupac Shakur, Ice Cube, Ice T, Roccet, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eazy E, The Game, and many more, this mixtape is jam packed with that authentic California Hip Hop. As with any Hevehitta and DJ Unexpected mixtape, the little interludes and dialog throughout the mix gives the CD its own little story, giving you history on the West Coast, and the influences from it. Are you looking for something different to listen to? Than this is the CD for you!

Young Chris – The Network

July 19, 2009

This tape came out earlier today, but I needed to give it a full listen before posting it up. Remember, we actually review and listen to all the tapes on the site. We don’t just copy and paste zshare links from the artists/labels/PR, like the majority of the hip hop blogs out.  Anyway, I’ve always been a Young Chris fan. So here is his latest put together with the help of Don Cannon, the mixtape producer of the year. With featuring spots from Beanie Sigel, Tu Phace, Wale, Black Thought, Rhymefest, Curren$y, Pharell and more. It’s a dope mixtape. Don’t sleep on Chris. Always a free mixtape download over here. Orisue & Terry Urban – Songs To Skate To

July 8, 2009

I’m no Skater, but Terry Urban and clothing label Orisue put together a dope mixtape that I can definitely rock out to . Songs To Skate To is a mixtape featuring various songs from various skate videos. An eclectic mix of music from Iron Maiden to Cream to Ol’ Dirty Bastard. Terry Urban always does an excellent job with his mixtapes, so check it out. A lot of these songs are classic in their own rights. Here’s the description from the good folks at Orisue:

SONG’S TO SKATE TO MIXTAPE

Terry Urban from The Press Play Show collaborated with us on a project involving two things important to us: skateboarding and of course, music. With this project, we’ve put together a collection of songs from classic skateboard video parts, both new and old.

What most people fail to realize is how much of an influence skateboarding has on fashion, music, and many other things. If you grew up around the skate culture, a lot of the music you listen to is because you heard that artist or that song in a skateboard video. There are so many different style’s of skateboarding and your style directly influences what kind of music you listen to. You might wear a little baggier clothes, do a lot of technical lines and you prefer to listening to hip hop. Or, you might wear tighter pants and skate a 100 miles per hour, jumping down big handrails and you listen to Metal. With that being said you know when you watch a skateboard video you usually are going to get a pretty interesting mash up of music. This mixtape pays homage to some of the classics that we love. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did putting it together!
