Emilio Rojas – The Natural
Dj Green Lantern presents Emilio Rojas with his latest mixtape titled “The Natural.” Emilio has shown tremendous growth since his last mixtape with Dj Noodles. I think he may even be one of the most improved artists in my opinion for 2009. “The Natural” mixtape comes off like a street album and features some heavyweight production from beat makers like 6th Sense, M-Phazes, Green Lantern, Boi-1da, Nottz, Sean C & LV and more. When I first heard Emilio’s music last year I didn’t think that he would be an artist capable of holding down a full album, but after hearing this tape my opinions definitely changed. Trackstar The Dj: Best Rapper Alive? Royce Da 5′9″ vs. Lil Wayne
Trackstar The Dj is back with a brand new mixtape for everyone. If you don’t recall, Trackstar put out a dope “Best Of” mixtape of Royce a little bit ago. This one however is a faceoff between Wayne and Royce. I’ll let Track explain his logic behind the production of this one.
Since Jay-Z stopped worrying about being the best and declared himself the greatest, many people have claimed the title of Best Rapper Alive, but few as often as Lil Wayne and Royce Da 5′9″.
While Wayne is a global superstar and Royce owns the underground, they seem to share similar taste in beats — “D.O.A.,” “I’m Me” and “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” as notable examples. I went ahead and put together twelve rounds of Nickel and Weezy facing off over the same beat, threw in a boxing motif, and now I’ll let the people decide.
The artwork on the back with the scorecard is excellent. The logic behind the mixtape is equally excellent. Trackstar always comes through with the dope mixtapes, so everyone should probably download this one here. Always a free mixtape download over here. Home of the free hip hop mixtape downloads. Lil Wayne – No Ceilings
It’s kind of sad that this got leaked already. It’s only a few days before the release, it’s a free download and now it’s leaked with no cover artwork. I was debating on whether or not to post it, but Nah Right went ahead and put it up. So, I might as well follow suit. It’d be nice if Lil Wayne adds some more music to it for the official release day which is Halloween. Doubt it… I’ll update the post with the artwork and official download when it officially drops. Dj L-Gee & Nobi – H3 (The Halloween Massacre Pt. 3)
Nobi is back with his third Halloween Massacre mixtape. H3 is hosted by Dj L-Gee and is an excellent tape. If you frequent GetRightMusic.com, then you know about Nobi. If you’re new, then you should probably download this, then search the site and download his other tapes. This tape is a little darker and grittier than his usual music, but that’s what the tape is about. Halloween, Massacre, and more. It has a theme and is put together well by Dj L-Gee. Gucci Mane – The Cold War Series (Guccimerica, Great Brrritain, Brrrusia)
Last night, October 17th at 10:17 PM, Gucci Mane released 3 mixtapes with all brand new material. Each tape is hosted by a different dj. Dj Drama, Dj Holiday and Dj Scream. Gucci Mane is just flooding the scene lately, this will make 4 Gucci Mane mixtapes in the past 4 weeks. He said he’s also planning on releasing another one in a few weeks. Anyway, I had to give all 3 an official listen of course before posting. I also wasn’t going to stay on the computer until 10:17 pm on a Saturday night just to satisfy Gucci’s marketing scheme either. So, here you have them if you want them. 3 new mixtapes full of new music from the Gucci Mane. Always a free mixtape download over here. Home of the free hip hop mixtape downloads. Kevin Casey Music – Live From New York (1994-2001)
This is one of the best mixtapes to be put out so far this year. New York hip hop from 1994-2001 were the best years ever in hip hop. All of these songs evoke different emotions in me when I listen to them again after a few years. This era of hip hop is what I grew up on and will never forget. Kevin Casey did an excellent job selecting the tracks from these yesteryear’s that truly capture the sound of New York during that time. You really need to download this tape right now. I have lost a lot of these songs over the years in changing computers, iPods, hard drives, etc… so, having all these again and on one mix is a blessing. Thank you Kevin. Carter – Legal Trappin
I don’t know that much about this new artist, Carter. I do know that he’s friends with Dom Kennedy, whom we have been supporting for a little bit now and that his music is spreading fast. Great music spreads naturally and Carter may just have that. My boy @mikeslim put me on (there’s your credit) to this tape and illroots had it first. The artwork is dope, but the music is better. This is his second mixtape to be released. We’ll post up his first tape if we get some positive feedback off of this one, which I’m pretty sure we will. Check it out. New artist out of Texas. Peter Bjorn and John with Mick Boogie – “Re-Living Thing”
I’ve leaked a few tracks off of this project over the past month, but here is the whole mixtape in it’s entirety. Mick Boogie can describe the project in better detail.
It’s finally here! The long awaited, Mick Boogie curated remix project for one of the world’s coolest bands, Peter Bjorn & John! I got together with some of my favorite producers and emcees and came up with a Mick Boogie classic! All your favorite PBJ songs from their “Living Thing” album completely remixed and reworked, and I think you’ll love them all.
Personally, I never knew about the band Peter, Bjorn and John until Mick Boogie started this project. Their music is extremely talented and this remix project from Mick will not only be a success, but it will definitely open up the ears of many hip hop listeners to new and eclectic music styles. Featuring production from 6th Sense, Jazzy Jeff, Jet Audio, The Kickdrums, Cookin’ Soul and more. Also featuring verses from artists like Bun B, GZA, Buckshot, Black Milk, Big Sean, Young Chris and more. A definite dope tape. Check it out. Always a free mixtape download over here. R.I.P. DJ AM: A Collection Of Mixes
This post is in honor of DJ AM. One of the greatest club/mix dj’s of our time. DJ AM was pioneer and his ability to control a crowd was one of one. From Dj’ing Hollywood nightclubs, to giving away amazing free mixes on the internet, to touring worldwide, Dj AM was without a doubt a great artist. He set the trend with the “eclectic” mix. AM’s style of blending hip hop, pop, rock, 80’s, funk, soul, breaks and more all in one set was groundbreaking and therefore imitated by dj’s all over the world. Dj AM will definitely be missed and hopefully his name will remain a legacy in the music industry. This post serves as an honor to his music and features a collection of 16 of his mixes. Most of the mixes are well over an hour and capture AM’s style of djing. Personally, I like to throw on an AM mix during a house party, as it always gets people up and animated. But, putting it on in the car and just cruising around works just as well. The download is served as one large 1.25 GB file or as separate downloads. Dj AM, R.I.P.
Donnis – Diary Of An Atlanta Brave
10 Deep is back at it again with a brand new tape showcasing the talents of Donnis. 10 Deep is now getting known for really helping to break artists on the come up into the majors. First, with the Wale tape and then with the Kid Cudi tape. Donnis comes out of Atlanta has a very refreshing flow and talent. You may recognize the name from the 2-3 song “Snack Pack’s” he’s been releasing on the internet the past few months. For this tape he was able to secure production from people like Needlz, Nobody Famous and 5 tracks from the J.US.T.I.CE. League. The tape is also put together by Dj Benzi and presented by Mick Boogie. Donnis really couldn’t ask for a better introduction mixtape. The people at 10Deep really know how to do it. Check it out.
